Well, this isn't something I've been excited to post about, but I sense there'll be some relief after it goes live. As with most things in life, the burden tends to lighten once the thing is done.
As you can tell from the post's heading, I've decided that it's time for Vale + Vine to go on hiatus. After ten years in the photography business and two years running Vale + Vine, I've come to the point where I'm in need of both creative refreshment and more time with my family. I don't want to look back on this season of my life with young ones at home and wish I'd had time with them when I wasn't juggling work or needing to spend so much time at my computer and on social media. I have also been yearning to stretch my creative muscles and explore some new directions that I believe will enhance my photographic and publishing work--in other words, I'd like to take a sabbatical of sorts.
These last two years have been filled with incredible submissions and opportunities to publish work created by exceptional vendors, but more than that, it's been a chance to connect with some of the best creatives in the business and readers interested in the fine art wedding industry. I hope many of these relationships will carry on beyond Vale + Vine. I'm excited for Vale + Vine's future as I believe this is not the end of the road, but a resting point, and a chance to explore the possibilities that lie ahead. If you have ideas for Vale + Vine's future, I invite you to share them with me. And if you are ever in the San Francisco area (or the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia where I'm from) and want to connect or collaborate, let me know!
If you'd like to follow along on my self-imposed sabbatical, I'll be posting (only as regularly as I'd like!) on Instagram from my personal feed @jaimelaurenphotography (See below for a sneak peek at my feed)
Thank you again for your incredible support for, and contributions to, Vale + Vine and I look forward to connecting both personally and professionally again in the future.
With warmth, appreciation, and overwhelming thanks,
Jaime Fenwick, Founder + Editor of Vale + Vine
