Okanagan Orchard Wedding in Spring

Natural and bespoke, this Okanagan wedding encompasses a rich breadth of beauty and emotion.  As I sifted through these lovely images from Jenna Hill Photography, I couldn't help but wonder what it would be like for someone 75 years from now to stumble upon this collection--bound in a handcrafted album or lovingly set in a keepsake box--and spend an afternoon reflecting on the love shared here, the beauty of Zoe + Scott's wedding day, and the artistry that allowed these moments to be captured and preserved.  But that nostalgic thought isn't likely to become a reality if these images don't find themselves printed and preserved...which is not something we do enough of these days.

As we as a society of image-makers and image-consumers produce more and more imagery and back it up using more and more digital or online storage, we are also more  likely to run the risk of not printing the memories and moments we hold most dear.  Nowadays, printing photographs is an afterthought, an additional expense, rather than the final product.  That trend is one of several reasons I encourage all of my own photography clients to incorporate albums or print collections into their packages.  There is nothing like holding a fine art print in one's hands...a memory made tangible, not merely digital.  No, it's not as easy to share the hard copies with the world, but it WILL be easier to share them with the people who matter most--those present in our lives now, and those yet to come.  Your wedding photos are too special not to cherish in such a deeply meaningful, and absolutely practical way, that this passionate position has become a foundational concept within the fine art wedding photography world.  Photographers want to share the power and beauty of the photographic print with their clients; Vale + Vine is committed to pointing photographers towards outstanding print labs and couples towards talented fine art photographers.  You'll see many of Vale + Vine's favourites featured throughout the blog, but if you'd like a referral, please contact jaime@valeandvine.com

When all is said and done, you'll never regret finding an offline, tangible home for your visual memories.
