Sunny Coastal Engagement Session

I know we're in the throes of fall, but this shoot is terribly refreshing to me.  The bright light of a summer's day, the gleaming waters of the Pacific Ocean, the rocky shores of Vancouver, (yes, you heard me right, Vancouver) how could one resist.  No overcast skies here, just sheer blue sky beauty captured on film by Brittany Mahood....

Elegant Botanical Garden Engagement

This engagement session at Vancouver's VanDusen Botanical Gardens looks effortless and dream-like, but the reality is that Anahita + Ryan's photos by Adrian Photographers is the culmination of expertly chosen elements blended into one truly romantic prelude to a wedding.  Anahita's white lace-embellished dress and soft half-up, half-down hairstyle accented by pink lips and nails is especially feminine,...

Heirloom Bridal Preparations

A few months ago Vale + Vine published a gorgeous shoot set in the North Carolina mountains featuring highlights from the 2014 Team Flower Workshop.  Sometimes not all of the images submitted for publication make it to the final layout however,  so today I wanted to give you a glimpse of some of the interior bridal prep images as well as more shots of the paper goods...

Sand Dunes + Lace Styled Shoot

I first encountered the delicate beauty of Claire Pettibone's gowns while attending Jose Villa's photography workshop in Mexico a few years ago, and every season I just can't get enough of the creative intricacies and embellishments that typify Claire Pettibone's gowns.  Here, Lani Elias highlights the luxurious details with an exotic yet familiar landscape, (sand dunes on the prairies) natural light, and minimal accoutrements....

Heirloom Bridal Inspiration in the Wilderness

This styled shoot photographed by Caileigh Kyle of Toronto was part of Erich McVey's photography workshop in Bend, Oregon and is such a calm, contemplative way to start off the week on Vale + Vine.  I love featuring work by Canadian photographers who travel and bring home their images and as a result, inspire the creative spirit within.  There is so much about this shoot and location that reminds me of the vast and rugged wilderness of Canada...

Saltspring Island Wedding Portraits

My favourite aspect of this Saltspring Island wedding photographed by Chelsea Jean Photography, is the photos that were  taken in the shade of a sprawling storybook-style tree, especially the ones with the bride + groom's daughter.  There's an atmosphere of familial comfort amidst the pastoral setting, and the tenderness depicted here really resonated with me.  I love when children play an active part in weddings...not only do they contribute to the sense of wonder and joy, but they also represent the passing on of legacies.

Classic Style at a Country Wedding

A groom's well-tailored suit, a bride's wind-swept tresses and her lace décolletage--these things will never go out of style.  If you're wondering how to ensure timeless wedding day style, start with elements such as these and generations to come will look back upon your images and, rather than cringe at the dated attire, appreciate the classic beauty and refined style you chose to emphasize.  But most of all, they'll look back and cherish the love, the commitment, and the joy you shared on your wedding day.  And that's what matters most right?  Rebecca Amber did a beautiful job of capturing the warm embraces and uncontrived emotion at the heart of this brisk and blustery wedding day, in Pitt Meadows, British Columbia.  Images to savour and pass down, to be sure.
